This is going to be the best party ever! So excited to see Florence of Alabia & Gala Delicious in Toronto! Come see them and us, shimmy shake at Helen of Tronna’s Helluva Birthday Bash. Use the discount code ‘MITTENS’ for $3 off of advance tickets.
Winter is finally loosing its icy grip, which means it’s time to heat things up with one of Toronto’s best March traditions. Come celebrate the turning of the seasons as well as the best ass east of the Don River.
Helen of Tronna may be a new name, but you can expect the same kind of saucy antics at this birthday show that you’ve come to love over the past five years. Join us Sunday, 16th of March at the Lula Lounge (1585 Dundas W, just west of Dufferin) for a night of bands, bells, booze and burlesque!
Plus feats of mentalism from Mysterion the Mind-Reader
High Heels Lo Fi
Pavlov’s Dogs Handbell Ensemble
Hosted by yours truly!
Tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 in advance at Brown Paper Tickets. And, because I love ya so much, Tumblr, you can get an extra $3 off advance tickets by using the passcode “MITTENS” (in honour of our guests from that place what looks like a mitten).
Doors open at 8, and we’ll be kicking things off at 9. Come buy me a drink and see what happens!

You guys!!! Look where I’m gonna be very soon! Toronto people, please come see us. And then I can be know as an international burlesque star.
I won’t be at TCAF this year, but Toronto fans can come see me do burlesque on the 16th of this month. I’ll bring some comics along.
IT’S THE NAKED TRUTH! LIFE’S PRETTY BARE..
It always amuses me to note how different the burlesque patrons were in the days of these cartoons vs. now.

There’s an awesome Kickstarter campaign on to help bring Canada’s first super heroine, Nelvana of the Northern Lights back into print for the first time since the 1940s! This is a very cool part of comics and Canadian history, please consider donating some funds. There’s also awesome perks, including copies of the finished books (softcover and hardcover available) and prints from comic artists such as: Ramón Pérez, Francis Manapul, Jeff Lemire, Ray Fawkes, J. Bone, Adam Gorham, Kate Leth and any more!
Earlier this week I told you about a new book about the forgotten female superheroes of the Golden Age. But those were American heroes. And before many of those arrived there was a female superhero in Canada - Nelvana of the Northern Lights.
I only just learned of Nelvana earlier this…
Friend of NGB, Dani Vulnavi (the creator behind Suckers and Super Suckers apparel) made this super cute Captain Marvel inspired dress for a pint-sized Carol Danvers fan! Dani also is responsible for Delicia Pastiche and Loretta Jean’s Glitter Batman & Robin burlesque costumes, along with some other special pieces in our costume trunks. :)

A few highlights from some of my friends’ acts at the MBF. Gala Delicious and Dolly Dagger did a sweet shimmy to Paint it Black. Bella Fox and Loretta Jean of Nerd Girl Burlesque did an awesome Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus act, complete with transformation scene. Photos once again by Bruno VZ.
Thanks linking these, Florence! ♥ It’s awesome to see some photos of our performance. :)
I’m so happy that we got the chance to perform with these ladies at the Michigan Burlesque Festival - it was a great time!
FYI, Bella Fox has decided that her new stage name is Helen of Tronna (as in Trawna), so she’s being billed that way as of now.
Florence picked Helen, Bianca Boom Boom and I up in Windsor, Ontario. We had an adventure in Sandwich Town (actual place) and then we drove across the border.
During the festival, Helen and I had the good fortune of sharing a dressing room with Gala Delicious and Dolly Dagger, who are complete sweethearts. I loved their Paint it Black number (pictured above.)
Florence’s “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” number is ridiculous and awesome. I love how depraved her sense of humour is.
What a great experience! Can’t see to see these lovely people again. -Loretta Jean (aka Sailor Uranus)
Have we mentioned how much we love Florence of Alabia? She’s kind of a genius, an amazing artist, a fantastic performer and an all around fantastic human being.
So, I’ve been keeping a tour diary since March, chronicling my burlesque adventures. I’ve got about 150 pages of diary comics sketched, and I inked (and colored) enough of them to put out a mini comic. I’ll have them for sale at the merch table while on tour (along with my dirty mermaid comics) and I’ll also run some of them on tumblr when fall tour starts up in October! This cover might be misleading about how many fart jokes are in this “series.” I’m calling the first mini #0 because the rest will be slightly more organized by subject and this one is an appetizer course with lots of different stuff in it.
